In line with it’s Vision and Mission and to expand it’s humanitarian activities Janaseva Foundation decided to open a nursing school in early 2002. It’s aim was to empower girls, women and divorcees from poor families by giving them quality nursing education and thereby making them employable and self sufficient.
Foundation’s dream received a boost with generous donation given by foundation’s patron Lion Madanbhai Sura in the name of his wife Mrs. Kumudben and hence the school is named so. Accordingly the nursing school was inaugurated in August 2002 at the auspicious hands of Hon’ble Shri Digvijay Khanwilkar, then Health Minister, Maharashtra State, in the presence of Jt. Director and Dy. Director, Directorate of Health Services, Government of Maharashtra.
It conducts 18 months revised A.N.M. nursing course for the 10th / 12th pass girls. The school is recognized by the Maharashtra Nursing Council (MNC), Mumbai and runs as per it’s guidelines and directives. A batch of 30 students is admitted every year in the month of August. Foundation gives preference to the girls from rural area of Konkan, girls and women from poor families, divorcees and orphans. Interested students should contact the foundation in the month of May / June for admission.
A well equipped nursing school building was inaugurated on 1st July 2007 at the hands of world known scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar while nurses hostel was inaugurated on 22nd December 2007 at the hands of Hon’ble Dilip Walsepatil, Minister for Higher Education and Energy, Govt. of Maharashtra.
Foundation’s well wisher Shri Ramanbhai Khivansara provided plants from his nursery in memory of late Chunilalji Khivansara. The beautiful lush garden with various plants around the nursing school and hostel is due to his efforts.
Besides a Principal and a Warden, to manage nursing school and nurses hostel, a nursing committee is formed under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Meena Shah. Well qualified and caring tutors have contributed to the 100% result we have achieved and most of the girls have passed out with good marks and many have received honours. Till August 2009, 11 batches have completed training and 12th and 13th batch are taking training.
